Baramulla, Apr 8: The residents of Jal-Sheeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district Friday staged a protest over the scarcity of drinking water in the area.
The protesters, mostly women, demanded an immediate end to their water crisis. They said that their area is worst affected due to non- availability of adequate water supply in the month of Ramadhan.
The locals said that they approached the concerned officials many times but nothing has been done in this regard.
“We are being forced to consume contaminated water, which has affected our health,” Shafeeqa, one of the protesting women said.
The locals also appealed to the concerned department and district administration to take note of the issue and take measures so that their issue of scarcity of drinking water is put to an end. (KNO)
