Ganderbal, Apr 20: Inhabitants of main town Ganderbal in Central Kashmir here have complained of defunct street lights, saying that the authorities have failed to restore these lights, thereby leaving them to lurch at large.
The residents of several areas in Ganderbal said that a maximum of the street lights are lying defunct in their respective areas from the period of last one month.
Residents of Ganderbal town complained that the streetlights installed in the area by Ganderbal Municipal Council (GMC) were totally useless.
A delegation from the area said that some of the lights have gone out of order and the concerned Ganderbal Municipal Council officials have failed to replace them.
“A streetlight or roadside lights in our Town are not working for the past one month, yet nobody from Ganderbal Municipal Council (GMC) has visited the area to replace it,” the delegation said.
The residents appealed to the Ganderbal Municipal Council to depute a team for replacing or restoring the lights in the market and also in the streets.
Executive Office Municipal Council Ganderbal, Naveed Ahmad Khan said that they have submitted a report to the government with regard to the procurement of 4000 EASEL lights.
“It is expected that we will receive the consignment shortly,” he said, adding that the defunct lights are also being made functional soon.
