Ensure no teaching staff is engaged in non-teaching activity: Govt to CEOs

Srinagar, Apr 20: The government has asked the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) to ensure that no teaching staff is engaged in non-teaching activities to safeguard the quality of education.
According to the official documents available, Nodal Officer NEP cell Balbir Sudan has said that he was directed to ask the CEOs schools to ensure no teacher is engaged in non-teaching activity.
“Since, there is a government order that no teacher will be engaged for non-teaching activity, all the CEOs have been directed to certify at earliest that no teacher is engaged in non-teaching activity so that the academic part of the schools may be safe-guarded,” it reads.
The documents further reveal that the Principal Secretary, School Education Department in a meeting held in last week of March has said, “The department has decided that the schools with enrollment zero and less than 3 will be merged with the nearest possible school keeping in view the access aspect with the co-operation of PRIs so that there may be justified distribution of teachers and other resources to acquire the optimum Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR).
Notably, the government relieved 22 staff members from the Directorate of School Education Kashmir.
Principal Secretary, School Education Department, B K Singh in an order has said that these officials shall join at their respective place of posting.
“In the interest of Administration, 18 teaching and four non-teaching staff members who are still continuing at the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir, shall be deemed to have been relieved with immediate effect,” Singh said.
He further directed them to join at their respective places of posting prior to their attachment in the Directorate.
