Mayor reviews traffic decongestion measures in Srinagar City

Srinagar, Apr 22: Mayor Srinagar Junaid Azim Mattoo held a detailed meeting on traffic decongestion and regular anti encroachment drives in the Srinagar City.
The meeting was attended by SSP traffic, Joint Commissioners Administration Secretary SMC , SP Headquarters, Chief Anti Encroachment Officer, Chief Enforcement Officer and officials from Smart City were present.
While reviewing various measures with regard to anti encroachment drive and traffic decongestion in Srinagar City Mattoo passed on several directions on the occasion and said a proper mechanism needs to be put in place for better traffic management and anti encroachments.
He said for conducting effective anti encroachment drives to have smooth flow of traffic and pedestrians movement Various departments needs to be roped in for collaborative effort to decongest City.
He said the officials from Traffic department, Srinagar Police , SDA and Smart City Ltd has to work in collaboration for proper management of traffic and for launching result oriented anti encroachment drives in the city.
He passed on directions for constituting a committee comprising of officials from all the mentioned departments.
The Committee shall meet fortnightly to discuss status and measures to be taken for anti encroachment in Srinagar City.
Besides this, Mayor stressed for constant successful anti encroachment drives to be held regularly so that street vendors do not choke public space and create hurdles in smooth vehicular movement in the city.
