Ganderbal, May 9: Even as the government has spent crores of rupees to develop amusement parks in J&K, the lone children’s park in Ganderbal town craves for official attention while as its damaged swings and rides are posing a great to the visiting kids.
The condition of children amusement portion in famous recreation Qamriya Park which is looked after Floriculture department in the main town of Ganderbal, is posing threat to children due to damaged swings and rides.
“The slides in the park are marred with rust and are broken, which can easily cause injury to children,” said locals.
They said that though the department floated the tenders to repair and replace broken swings established in the park but the sub-standard material used by the contractors to replace damaged swings didn’t last for long. “Ironically there is no check for the work of contractors by the department,” said Ghulam Muhammad Rather, a local resident.
A group of locals said that the children are feeling disappointed and their parents have appealed the authorities to replace the damaged swings and rides and upgrade the park on modern lines so that the kids can enjoy in the park.
