Srinagar, May 9: Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday claimed to have arrested a ‘hybrid’ militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A police spokesman, said that the joint forces of Baramulla Police, Army 52 RR, 53 Bn CRPF and 2nd Bn SSB established routine MVCP near Juhama crossing Baramulla.
“During checking the party observed movement of one person who were coming towards Kanispora. On seeing the party the individual tried to flee from the spot. However, the individual was tactfully apprehended, who on interrogation disclosed his identity as Tawheed Ahmad Haroon, son of Late Khazir Mohammad of Delina Ghat, Baramulla,” he said.
Upon his personal search, one pistol, one pistol magazine, nine live rounds of pistol were recovered from his possession, police said.
Pertinently, the militant as per the statement obtained these illegal arms and ammunition with intent to carry out militant activities in Baramulla and its adjacent areas.
A case under sections of Arms & UA (P) Act stands registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation taken up, the statement said.
