Dearth of vaccines, bedding capacities in hospitals anguishing: Cong

Srinagar, May 18: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Tuesday described the dearth of vaccines in J&K as anguishing, pointing towards the ambiguities in the efforts that are being made by the government with regard to supply of vaccines, besides increase in bedding capacities and other health infrastructure.
The party as per a statement issued, said the failures to ensure vaccines is raising many questions in the minds of people, adding more chaos to already complex situation both in Jammu and Kashmir, which has witnessed hundreds of fatalities, so far, due to the fatal virus.
JKPCC asked the government to explain as to what measures it is taking to ensure inoculation of people. Although Congress party supports every initiative by the LG administration, but at the same time, the party feels extremely disappointed over the loss of precious lives both in Jammu and Kashmir.
It also laid emphasizes over taking more effective measures to control further spread of virus, besides ensuring inoculation of every entitled individual to avoid fatalities.
Delaying the process of inoculation and upgradation of health infrastructure would further strengthen the spread of virus, which has to be circumvented, JKPCC said.
JKPCC president Ghulam Ahmad Mir said there is restlessness among the people due to non-availability of vaccines, as that, J&K has reportedly not received vaccines for many days despite the disaster continues unabated, which is matter of grave concern.
Although, Congress party supported every initiative of ensuring safety of people by the LG administration, but at the same time, it feels extremely disappointed over the failures on various fronts when it comes to vaccination, increase in bedding capacities and upgradation of health infrastructure and other covid related arrangements that are required to be done on war footing basis, Mir added.
He urged the government to ensure inoculation and bedding capacities besides oxygen and availability of ventilators for severe patients in hospitals to meet the urgent medical emergencies.
The current situation is dangerous proportion, government needs to act swiftly and avoid delay in implementing decisions, besides people must cooperate with the government, adhere to SOPs to ensure safety of their near and dear ones, which is the only way to come out of the current disaster, Mir said.
