Keep Kashmir connected

The four-day wet spell has ended in Jammu and Kashmir, but it claimed the lives of two persons and nearly 70 cattle at separate places. Some tragedies cannot be averted, but there are chances that the incidents that shatter the dream of many can be thwarted. Similarly, in the incident where two persons including a tourist and a local guide have died could have been prevented as the authorities should have blocked all ways leading towards Tarsar Lake in wake of the advisory issued by the local meteorological department days ahead of the inclement weather conditions. One can criticize the administration for failing to take necessary steps after the advisory was issued. It seems that the advisories being issued by the weatherman are being least considered and seemingly no proper and necessary measures are being taken to deal with the possible eventuality due to inclement weather conditions. There are people who question the government for not taking the advisories seriously, which has time and again proved detrimental to the people on the ground. The advisories are being issued with an aim to get alert and prevent all the possible untoward incidents, but here the situation is quite contrary as nobody seems ready to take the call from the weatherman seriously, thus pushing the people to lurch at large. There is a need to take the advisories seriously and take all the preventive measures much ahead of the inclement weather conditions. Importantly, the government should consider blocking all the ways leading to the hilly areas whenever the possibility of heavy rains will be predicted, which will help in saving the previous lives.
