Handwara, Jul 6: A 4-year-old boy was mauled to death by a leopard in Rajpora village in Handwara of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday evening.
Reports said that one Mehraz Azad Mir son of Mohammad Azad Mir was pounced upon by a leopard while he was playing outside his maternal uncle’s home in Rajpora Zachaldara. The beast reportedly dragged the boy into dense forests. Alerted by the cries, the family and locals chased the leopard and retrieved the boy in critical condition. They evacuated the boy to NTPHC Zachaldara where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The incident has created panic among the villagers and have demanded authorities to trap the leopard to avoid any such incident in future. (GNS)
