Pulwama, Jul 9: Senior Advocate Zafar Shah Saturday said that Private schools have a major responsibility to shape the society and preparing the youth to compete globally and lead in future.
Addressing a gathering of school owners of Pulwama and Shopian districts today at Town Hall Pulwama, Adv Zafar Shah said that Private schools should take their ventures as a mission and not as business. Stressing on the need to meet the challenges of changing times, he urged the schools to equip the children with knowledge in a manner that these children are able to face challenges as may emerge in the near future. He also urged the schools that they need to provide quality education to children and for that purpose they need good quality teachers. He said that a child after spending his formative years in these schools under the guidance of able teachers will be able to compete globally in the 21st century.
He urged the school owners to strengthen their association so as to overcome the challenges that are ahead of them while implementing New Education Policy (NEP). Adv. Zafar Shah asked the private entrepreneurs in education to guide the children in all the aspects of life and teach them how to pass the real test of life.
Earlier, President PSAJK G N Var in his address explained in detail the difficulties and problems faced by the private schools. He said that the space for private schools is being narrowed down by the concerned authorities. They are being asked for multiple certificates and NOCs when it comes to registration or up-gradation. This consumes much of our energy and resources leading little room to think over investing in quality education, he said. He asked the Government to provide a stress free atmosphere to private schools so that they can focus on quality education which should be the prime duty of a school owner. He urged the school owners of both the districts to prioritise teacher’s training and capacity building so that they are able to implement the New Education Policy in letter and spirit.
Sheeraz Ahmed Wani, District Coordinator Pulwama welcomed the guests. District presidents of Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam were present in the conference. Manzoor Ahmad, Chairman South Kashmir, Mohd Sayed District President Anantnag, Khalid Reshi, District President Pulwama, Waseem Hanief Vice President Pulwama, Shiraz Ahmad, District Coordinator Pulwama and G M Lone, Advisor PSAJK were also present on the occasion.
