The rash driving, especially by the two-wheelers in Srinagar and elsewhere has turned out to be a nuisance as it has been found that most of the bikers don’t follow the traffic rules, thus putting their lives as well the others at risk. The concerned authorities have been persistently seizing the two-wheelers in every nook and corner of Kashmir after they are found violating the norms. It has been seen that besides rash driving, most of the bikers do not wear the mandatory crash helmets, which can prove detrimental to them in any manner. One fails to understand why a harsh step has been delayed so far. From time to time, the norm violators are being fined for not obeying the rules, but there is a need to put an end to the fines, especially for the two-wheelers in a bid to save the precious lives. The bikers if found without crash helmets should face some stern action in the shape of suspension of driving licences. Saving precious lives in tragic road accidents is imperative and the need of the hour, thus any harsh decision in this regard, is expected to be welcomed by one and all. Therefore, the government should consider challaning the first time offender while the second time violator should face the suspension of license. Such a decision would certainly help in reducing the accidental deaths on bikes and thus can decline the graph of fatalities in J&K as well. The concerned should thoroughly look into the matter and ensure that some respite is provided to the people in this regard.
