Coronavirus: JK reports two deaths, 229 new cases

Srinagar, Aug 25: Jammu and Kashmir Thursday reported 239 fresh cases of Covid-19, taking the number of active cases to 2,001 while two more deaths were reported in the UT in the last 24 hours and taking the death toll to 4,781.
An official said that among 229 new cases, 188 belong to Kashmir division while as 41 to Jammu division.
He said that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir have reached to 303,423 including 299,322 recoveries and 2,432 deaths, while total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 173,509 including 170,828 recoveries and 2,349 deaths. He further said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 2,001 including 1,669 from Kashmir division and 332 from Jammu division.
With 395 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in J&K has reached to 470,150 which is 98.57 percent of the total cases.
“Among the fresh 229 cases today, 61 are from Srinagar, 30 from Baramulla, 31 from Budgam, 07 from Pulwama 14 from Kupwara, 15 from Anantnag, 04 from Bandipora, 05 from Ganderbal, 19 from Kulgam and 02 from Shopian in Kashmir division while 41 are from Jammu division that include 22 from Jammu district, 04 from Udhampur, 00 from Rajouri, 01 from Doda, 03 from Kuthua , 07 from Samba, 00 from Kishtwar, 01 from Poonch, 03 from Ramban and 00 from Reasi,” said the official.
As per the daily information bulletin 6,699,125 persons in J&K are under observation while 163 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides 2,001 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 6,691,811 persons have completed the surveillance period and 369 persons are under home surveillance besides so far results of 26,404,361 samples are available.
“Out of 26,404,361 the number of samples tested negative stands at 25,927,429 while 476,932 have tested positive, among them 2,001 cases are active, 470,150 have recovered and 4,781 persons have died,” it added.
