Keep Kashmir connected

The incumbent administration in Jammu and Kashmir has once again exhorted the officers to take steps to eliminate drug abuse in the Union Territory. But, there are people who question the outcome of the much-hyped decisions and missions publicized by the authorities from time to time with regard to the particular issue. In one such instance, a mission called ‘Mission WAAPSI’ was initiated by the district administration Srinagar along with the district police here, but unfortunately the drives and visits remained a few days show in the district, putting a question mark over the seriousness of the administration with regard to preventing the situation from turning disastrous in the Union Territory. Every day, the people are being arrested for selling drugs, but arresting a few will never serve a cause, but the action has to be taken at the highest level with an active support of the people to end the drug menace as well as the addiction once for all. However, some measures that would be taken for a few days will only create a fear for a few days, but cannot help in eradicating the drug menace from the ground. It is the time when the authorities in the administration as well as police should formulate a well-thought-out plan to curb the dealers as well as the youth from the menace. It is high time to prevent the situation from turning disastrous and the administration should play its key role to bring a respite on the ground once for all.
