Ganderbal, Aug 31: In a major relief to villagers living in Tanghchatter area of Kangan Sub division, the newly constructed Bridge is almost near completion and shall be opened for light vehicle, the Chairperson District Development Council (DDC) Ganderbal Nuzhat Ishfaq was informed by the officers of JKPCC.
The DDC Chairperson Wednesday visited the construction site of Tangchatter Bridge and inspected the pace of work.
In her address, DDC Chairperson said the completion of the bridge has fulfilled the long awaited and cherished dream of the area. She reiterated that ‘the road to development starts with development of roads.’
The villagers expressed their gratitude to DDC Chairperson Nuzhat Ishfaq for redressal of the long pending demand and said that the bridge will prove to be a lifeline to many villages as these villages would now be directly connected to the commercial hub Kangan.
The bridge would also act as a shortcut and better route to Sub division Kangan for villagers living in the area.
The DDC chairperson took stock of progress and status of the work of Akhal Bridge and was informed that the contractor has stopped the work. She instructed the concerned officers to take immediate measures to remove all bottlenecks and start the work on the bridge.
She was also apprised about the work on Bobsipora bridge of Ganderbal, connecting main Ganderbal with other areas and acts as an alternate route. It was informed that the macadamization work in and around the bridge will be done in the coming week and it will be thrown open for heavy traffic soon.
The DDC discussed the issues pertaining to construction of the bridges with engineers of the executing agency and directed them to accelerate the pace of progress. She assured them full cooperation from the Administration.
