Ganderbal, Sep 20: Nearly one kilometre away from mini secretariat Ganderbal, Saloora village in the district is craving for the development as the people there are being forced to face hardships due to the lack of basic facilities.
A densely populated area, located next to District Headquarters here lacks almost all the basic facilities, electricity infrastructure and health care as well.
The residents said that the condition of interior roads is the main issue, which has never been mitigated.
Average population in this area fall in above poverty line with high literacy rate but the area has been neglected for the reasons known to district administration, they said, adding that the inner link roads connecting the area with two districts including Bandipora and Baramulla have been left isolated by the concerned department.
The drainage system in the area is lying defunct due to the blockades at several places, which have affected sanitation and agricultural land as well.
Same is the condition of health care and power infrastructure, they said, adding that though, the funds for all these developmental works were approved with the efforts of the welfare Committee but were lapsed frequently due to non utilization by concerned departments.
Apart from lack of basic facilities, the construction of a playground in the area has been left midway.
The locals said that a huge chunk of land and 10 percent of the amount was donated by the residents for the purpose of a playground and for which the physical education department released an amount of Rs 7 lacs, which was utilized for the partial work and then stopped.
The residents appealed the district administration to take serious notice of the problems being faced by the locals.
