Anantnag, Oct 21: Residents of Kachnaad village in Khiram hamlet of Anantnag district are suffering due to lack of basic facilities in the area.
They said that their area has been hit by water shortage for the last four decades and authorities are acting as mute spectators.
Basharat Ahmad, a local activist said that there is no water facility in the area and people are forced to drink contaminated water.
He said that a tubewell installed in the area is around 2 kilometres from Kachnaad and people of the area collect water on donkeys.
Another resident, Abdul Majeed, said that their troubles increase during winters and due to slippery conditions many people suffer injuries while collecting water.
Locals also complained about lack of proper road and space crunch in Government Middle School Kachnaad.
They said that there are only five rooms for students while the total students admitted in the school stands at 100.
They also added that the area lacks proper mobile connectivity due to which the whole area is suffering.
Locals said that despite getting votes from area, political leaders of the area have also failed to provide them basic facilities
They requested concerned authorities especially LG Manoj Sinha to personally intervene and direct concerned authorities to take steps so that locals can get facilities.
