Jammu, Nov 4: Stating that the neighbouring country was trying to disturb peace in J&K, senior army officer Brigadier Rajesh Bisht, Commander, Poonch Brigade on Friday said that Poonch infiltration bid has once again exposed the “plans of neighbouring country to disrupt peace in the UT.”
“Pakistan has been supporting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. A fresh attempt of infiltration at Poonch has once again exposed the Pakistan’s plans aimed at disturbing peace in J&K,” he said.
Brigadier Bisht was flanked by Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajouri-Poonch Range Dr Haseeb Mughal during the presser in Rajouri.
He said that on Thursday troops observed suspicious movement of three infiltrators in Pathani suit in Nakarkot area of Poonch sector.
The Army foiled a major infiltration bid by terrorists and recovered arms and ammunition along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Brig Rajesh Bisht, Commander, Poonch Brigade, “When the infiltrators were challenged, they opened heavy volume of fire,” he said, adding that in the ensuing firefight all the three terrorists were injured.
He further added it was a daunting task due to topography of the area.
“The area is surrounded with dense forces cover and boulders. It also thickly mined. After firing was stopped out troops carried out search operation and found a body of terrorist with AK 47 rifle, furthermore another AK 47 was recovered near LoC. Troops also found blood strains of injured terrorist leading towards other side of LoC,” the Brigadier said.
During search operations, two AK-74 Rifles along with four magazines and 43 rounds, a Chinese pistol with seven rounds and magazine, a claymore mine along with cable and battery, a SMG Magazine, a bag and a small packet of contraband material were seized. With this, the security forces have eliminated a major infiltration bid in Poonch sector, said the officer.
