Keep Kashmir connected

Kashmir has always seen three-month closure of educational institutions like schools, colleges and Universities in wake of the plummeting of the temperature during winters. However, this year, there is no discussion or statement over the winter vacations by the government after the government decided to start the March session like the other parts of the country. Nonetheless, the silence maintained by the government with regard to the closure of schools seems that something new is in the mind of the people at the helm of affairs. But, one fails to understand why the government has not made any statement with regard to the closure of the schools, especially for the little children, who come out of their homes early in the morning to wait for their respective school buses to reach their educational institutions. The new timing announced by the government is hardly bringing any respite to the little school-going children as most of them have to wait for their buses at 08:30 AM everyday to reach the school on time. Nobody seems willing to talk about the sufferings of little children as there is hardly any respite to them amid the bone-chilling cold here. The situation becomes more difficult for them during the rains, but the concerned department and schools are reluctant to bring any respite to the little children. Keeping in view, the most of the schools functioning across Kashmir don’ have adequate heating arrangements, therefore, the government should come up with the statement with regard to the closure of schools in winters, especially for the students, who study in LPD classes or up to Class 5th so that they could heave a sigh of relief.
