Police arrest five gamblers in Bandipora

Srinagar, Nov 15: Acting tough against social crimes, Police in Bandipora have arrested five gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.
Acting on specific information about gambling activities in Nowgam area of Sumbal, a police party of PP Nowgam led by I/C PP Nowgam under the supervision of SDPO Sumbal Surinder Mohan-JKPS & SHO PS Sumbal raided the specific site and arrested five gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Zadoo, Mohmad Maqbool Naikoo, Syed Reyaz, Bashir Ahmad Batoo & Kifayat Hussain Batoo all residents of Nowgam Sumbal.
Officers have seized stake money of Rs 3,420/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 137/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sumbal and investigation has been taken up.
