Srinagar, Nov 15: Young BJP leader and DDC member for Khonmoh constituency Tuesday visited Chinar Bagh area of Srinagar and met the houseboat owners and Dal dwellers who apprised him about the problems being faced by them especially the issue of long pending rehabilitation and compensation.
Er Aijaz gave a patient hearing to the locals of Chinar Bagh and expressed his shock or the living condition of the people there stating these people are deprived of all the basic utilities and that they are suffering on many fronts. Er Aijaz said that the people, especially houseboat owners, desperately need rehabilitation. The young BJP leader urged the government to rehabilitate the houseboat owners of Chinar Bagh on priority so that they can live a dignified and hassle free life.
Er Aijaz said that the condition of houseboat owners whose houseboats got damaged and sunk during 2014 floods haven’t been neither rehabilitated nor any sort of compensation has been provided to them till date.
He urged the government to conduct a fresh assessment of damage caused to the houseboat owners of Chinar Bagh and to provide them immediate compensation as they are living a miserable life with no source of living. Er Aijaz said that many families in absence of proper shelter are badly suffering and facing a lot of difficulties. Er Aijaz assured the Chinar Bagh residents, especially houseboat owners, that he will take up their genuine issues with the concerned departments and ensure that all issues are resolved on a fast track basis. The young leader told them that BJP government was committed to serve people irrespective of caste, colour and creed and it was its duty to reach out to all segments of the society for better delivery of justice and governance.
