Police bust LeT module in Bandipora

2 militants, as many associates held

Bandipora, Nov 22: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday said it busted a Lashkar-e-Tobia militant module by arresting two active militants and two associates including a woman in Hajin area of Bandipora district.
In a statement, a spokesperson said in a major breakthrough Police along with security forces busted LeT militant module by arresting 02 active militants and their two associates including a woman.
The statement reads incriminating materials, huge cache of arms & ammunition and material for preparing IED was also recovered from their possession, thereby averting a major tragedy.
The arrested militants have been identified as identified as Musaib Mir alias Moya of Rakh Hajin and Arafat Farooq Wagey alias Dr Adil of Gulshnabad Hajin.
It added that incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including 01 AK-47 rifle, 01 AK-56 riffle, 04 AK series Magazines, live rounds, RDX powder, nails & ball bearings, batteries 9 volt, detonators, IED mechanism circuit, remote control, loose wire and iron pipes etc have been recovered from their possession.
It reads the joint party also arrested their two associates identified as Imran Majeed Mir alais Jaffar Bhaie of Wangipora Sumbal and Suraya Rashid Wani alias Senty of Wahab Parray Mohalla Hajin along with two hand grenades & other incriminating materials.
It reads preliminary investigation revealed that the module was being handled by LeT commander from Pakistan.
“The module was directed to carry out substantial attacks on civilians and security forces to instil fear in the minds of general public. They were also tasked to carry out a powerful IED blast at any crowded public place to cause maximum civilian casualties thereby averting a major tragedy,” it reads.
Meanwhile, ADGP Kashmir congratulated the forces for busting the module and averting a major tragedy.
He also termed it as a big success in demolishing the militant infrastructure of north Kashmir.
