SED identifies 83 Govt institutions to showcase NEP implementation

Srinagar, Nov 23: The School Education Department has identified 83 government institutions here to showcase the implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) on pilot basis to emerge as exemplar schools.
The Chief Education Officer (CEO) Srinagar in an official communique to government has said, “In context of the PM Schools for Rising India (SHRI), Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India has approved centrally sponsored scheme PM SHRI.”
The CEO said that the initiative is intended to prepare selected existing schools as PM SHRI schools. “These schools will help showcase the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and emerge as exemplary schools over a period of time,” it reads.
It also reads that these schools will provide leadership in their respective regions in providing high-quality education in equitable, inclusive and joyful school environment that takes care of the diverse background, multilingual needs and different academic abilities of children and makes them active participants in their own learning process as per the vision of NEP 2020.
The communique further reads, “Selection of PM SHRI schools will be done through Challenge Mode wherein schools will compete to become exemplar schools. The pool of schools that are eligible to take part in the challenge to be selected as PM SHRI schools have been identified based on prescribed minimum benchmark through UDISE plus data.”
“Selection would be done through a three-stage process with definite time lines. Maximum of two schools would be selected per zone,” CEO said.
It also said, “In this context, 83 schools of District Srinagar have been found to be eligible, as per UDISE plus data, to take part in the challenge.”
The CEO also said that the required information should reach its office by or before November-24 without fail.
