Are we forgetting our parents?

The efforts are on to arrest and prevent the drug dealing in Jammu and Kashmir, but it is obvious that the arrests cannot help in achieving the target of eradicating the drug menace once for all. Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta has himself admitted that the fight against drugs is a collective task. But, one fails to understand what prompts the government to launch a collective fight. The youngsters are involved in the menace and several precious lives have been lost by the use of different substances. Many studies have come up with the details that the people who are below 18 years old are getting involved in the nuisance where they find it hard to step back. Besides the religious clerics, local populace, police and administration, everyone has to join hands to deal with the situation. Only one person or the group cannot end the nuisance from society. The united fight is mandatory to curb the situation and the statements being made by the government itself should be implemented in letter and spirit to show some seriousness on the ground. Making statements would not change the situation, but there is a need to work on the ground and fight the situation tooth and nail to prevent further damage to the society and also act against the persons, who are hell-bent to ruin the lives of youth for their vested interests.
