Srinagar, Nov 25: In a bid to attract the youngsters towards folk art, a three-day painting exhibition ‘Autumn Art Exhibit’ has been organized at Arts Emporium Abdullah bridge Srinagar on Friday.
The exhibition has been organized by a reputed national artist, Deepa Soni.
Soni, who belongs to Udhampur district of Jammu, said that the exhibition in which different types of paintings wherein oil colours, water colours, fusion, three-dimensional and other paintings have been displayed, is aimed at spreading art through different forms.
“The young generation is too attracted towards three-dimensional arts, but the folk art at the same time is being ignored. Through this exhibition, we are trying to come up with unique way of clubbing folk art and other latest techniques to inspire the younger generation and keep them intact with the folk art. This will help to take our heritage to next generations,” she said.
The exhibition will continue for three-days where the people can sit, learn from each other, she said, adding that if the response is good, such exhibitions will be organized in the future as well.
“Art field is a creative field, any youngster willing to pursue his education in this field should be encouraged. The parents should also allow their wards to go ahead with the arts field as instead of wasting time of any other degree, the parents should pave the way for the youngsters to pursue what they aspire,” she said.
Spl DG CID J&K R R Swain, Secretary to tribal affairs Department & Chief Executive officer, Mission Youth Shahid Choudhary, VC KVIB Dr Hina Bhat, DIG Sujit Kumar, SSP Srinagar, SSP Traffic, City were also present on the occasion.
