Coronavirus: JK records 1141 new cases, four deaths

Srinagar, Apr 15: The Covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir continue to show a spurt as 1,141 fresh positive cases were reported on Thursday pushing the number of active cases near 10,040 which otherwise were less than 600 around a month before.

Four more deaths were reported in J&K in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 2,046 and active cases continue to increase and the recovery rate decreases with each passing day. 1,141 fresh positive cases reported on Thursday pushed the tally of positive cases to 142,877.

Of the exact number of 142,877 cases, 85,757 are from Kashmir and 57,120 from Jammu division.

Officials said that among 1,141new cases, 707 belong to Kashmir division while as 434 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 85,757 including 78,300 recoveries and 1,288 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 57,120 including 52,492 recoveries and 758 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 10,040 including 6,169 from Kashmir division and 3,871 from Jammu division.

With 487 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 130,791 which is 91.54 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 418 from Srinagar, 136 from Baramulla, 25 from Budgam, 21 from Pulwama, 23 from Kupwara, 30 from Anantnag, 07 from Bandipora, 13 from Ganderbal, 28 from Kulgam and 06 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 434 from Jammu division include 215 from Jammu, 47 from Udhampur, 13 from Rajouri, 04 from Doda, 29 from Kathua, 13 from Samba,  08 from Kishtwar, 09 from Poonch, 03 from Ramban and 93 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

As per officials figures, 33,444 positive cases including 484 deaths and 29,391 recoveries are from Srinagar, 10,138 including 183 deaths and 9,010 recoveries are from Baramulla, 8,756 including 8,258 recoveries and 123 deaths are from Budgam, 6,200 including 5,895 recoveries and 92 deaths are from Pulwama, 6,103 including 98 deaths and 5,763 recoveries are from Kupwara, 5,498 including 5,136 recoveries and 99 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,931 cases including 4,741 and 63 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,857 including 4,691 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Ganderbal, 3,087 including 2,806 recoveries and 57 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,743 including 2,609 recoveries and 40 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 28,003 including 25,588 recoveries and 395 deaths are from Jammu district, 5,100 including 4,341 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Udhampur, 3,995 including 3,844 recoveries and 56 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,508 including 3,405 recoveries and 64 deaths are from Doda, 3,639 including 3,390 recoveries and 53 deaths are from Kathua, 2,986 including 2,822 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Samba, 2,795 including 2,744 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Kishtwar, 2,617 including 2,519 recoveries and 28 deaths are from Poonch, 2,191 including 2,139 recoveries and 23 deaths are from Ramban and 2,286 including 1,699 recoveries and 16 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 1,641,528 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 71,500 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 1,0040 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 1,425,296 persons have completed surveillance period and 132,646 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 6,648,718 samples are available. Out of 6,648,718 the number of samples tested negative stands at 6,505,841 while as 142,877 have tested positive, among them 10,040 persons are active, 130,791 persons have recovered and 2,046 persons have died.
