Srinagar, Nov 26: Department of Posts, Jammu & Kashmir Postal Circle organized a function in Srinagar GPO Complex to celebrate the Constitution Day and mark the 73rd anniversary of adoption of India’s constitution.
The event was well attended with the presence of a sizable number of staff members and officers of the Department of Posts. Col Vinod Kumar, Chief Postmaster General, (current charge) Jammu & Kashmir Circle read the preamble of the constitution with the staff members.
Addressing the gathering, Col Vinod Kumar credited the Constitution for the progress of the country governed by strong, independent democratic institutions; and for creation of an ecosystem which provides meaningful freedom for realization of true potential of an individual.
In his keynote address, Col Vinod Kumar highlighted the salient features of the Indian constitution, particularly the aspects of Pluralism and Secularism, Fundamental rights, Directive Principles of State Policy, and the principle of separation of powers. He spoke about the farsightedness shown by the drafting members of the Constitution in providing an enduring framework of the Rule of Law to fulfill the aspirations of the people of India.
Col Vinod Kumar said that the Department of Posts is committed to the people of Jammu & Kashmir and urged the staff members to work with true zeal and zest so that the postal services are provided to the need and expectation of the people. Welcome address in the function was given by G R Bhat, Sr. Postmaster Srinagar GPO and vote of thanks by Bhupinder Singh, Assistant Director.
