Bandipora, Dec 17: A remote village named Vewan in Bandipora got potable water for the first time on Saturday, officials said here.
Villagers used to visit adjoining stream to fetch water that too contaminated but they now seem overjoyed as their long-pending demand of safe drinking water has finally been met.
Azad Ahmad, a local said that they would face problems without drinking water but village has breathed a sigh of relief after getting tap water.
They thanked the administration for fulfilling their demand.
An official said that a water reservoir and water filtration plant will be constructed in village soon. (KNO)
