Pulwama, Dec 31: Residents of Aripal area of Tral Sub division have demanded a fire service station in their area.
They said that Aripal Tehsil comprises over 50 villages with a population of thousands but is deprived of this basic facility.
They said that the nearest fire station for them is at Tral which is around 12 KM from Aripal and at the time of any fire incident, it takes time for fire tenders to reach the spot.
Shakeel Hussian, a local resident said people of Aripal had approached successive governments for setting up a fire service station at Aripal Tehsil headquarters to no avail.
The residents claimed that during recent years they lost property worth crores due to the lack of a fire service station in their area.
They said that this year some fire incidents occurred in their area and fire could have been controlled from spreading if they had a nearby fire station.
