ACD Ganderbal takes stock of sanitation management at Kangan Block

Ganderbal, Jan 23: On the directions of Deputy commissioner Ganderbal, Shyambir-IAS, Assistant Commissioner Development Ganderbal alongwith ACP Ganderbal conducted a tour of various Panchayat Halqas of Block Kangan in order to inspect/monitor the sanitation management in the district.
During visit the duo officers were accompanied by Block Development Officer Kangan, AE (REW) Kangan, JEs, Panchayat Secretaries besides PRI members of Kangan Block.
On the occasion, the officers inspected the ongoing works of SWM segregation sheds, Community compost pits and other related works.
While visiting SWM segregation shed being constructed at Panchayat Halqa Cherwan-A, the officers were informed that baring the finishing work, the segregation shed is complete. The officers gave necessary instructions for completing the balance work within least time.
Meanwhile, the ACD visited the BDO office Kangan and reviewed the Sanitation management of the Block while interacting with the Sanitation committees of Kangan-A, Kangan-B and Margund Panchayat Halqas and impressed upon the officials and sanitation committee members to work in cohesion for successful implementation of the Sanitation plan in the Block. Block Development Officer Kangan apprised the chair regarding the progress of sanitation management viz-a-viz the construction of Segregation sheds, User charges collection status, Waste collection & transportation status and the hurdles being faced for smooth implementation of the Plan. ACD advised the BDO Kangan to strengthen and explore more options in tackling the huge quantum of waste bring generated in the Kangan market.
On the occasion, ACD conveyed the appreciation note of Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal to the officers/officials of RDD that due to their tireless efforts since last 5 months the district has been able to achieve a significant progress regarding the initiative of Swachh Gram in the district.
Earlier, the duo officers reviewed the functioning of Halqa sanitation committees, door to door waste collection and its transportation at Panchayat Ghar Kijpora too.
While interacting with the members the officers said that district administration is committed to make Ganderbal district garbage free and 100 percent disposal of waste on scientific lines and Stressed upon the general public and PRIs to actively participate and cooperate in taking this initiative of Swachh Gram to it’s success.
They directed the Sanitation Committees to ensure 100 percent door to door waste collection in their Halqas and appealed people to Cooperate with the committees. They further added that District Administration will take action against those who indulge in littering or dumping of garbage/cowdung on roadsides.
Pertinent to mention here that Ganderbal is the only District in whole UT of J&K that figures in the 2-star category and is at 2nd position in the list of Ranking of districts of whole country based on Delta achievement score of SSG-2022.
