Srinagar, Jan 25: Several morning flights got delayed again on Tuesday as many parts of Jammu and Kashmir received fresh snowfall, leading to the closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway as well. The plains, however, continued to receive intermittent rainfall for the second straight day, bringing down the temperature further across the Valley.
Reports said that several areas of J&K including Kishtwar, Kathua, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Shopian, Tangmarg and other areas experienced fresh snowfall today.
Under the influence of Western Disturbance, the intensity of snowfall increased since Tuesday evening following which the majority of areas received fresh snowfall while the plains received rainfall.
Meanwhile, the Director Meteorological department said that there is a possibility of a brief snow spell tomorrow while the weather conditions would remain mostly dry on January 27 and 28.
He added that light to moderate snowfall is expected on January 29-30 as a fresh Western Disturbance is affecting J&K on particular date.
Moreover, several flights got delayed in the wee hours of this morning due to low visibility. However, Director Srinagar Airport, Kuldeep Singh said that the light operation was later resumed.
The fresh snowfall also disrupted the vehicular movement on Srinagar-Jammu highway as the road remained closed for over 13 hours due to shooting stones and mudslides at Mehar and Panthyal.
“No fresh traffic will be allowed on the either sides till the stranded vehicles are cleared,” the officials said.
