Passengers complain of overcharging on Hablish-Mir Bazar route in Kulgam

Kulgam, Feb 14: The passengers of Hablish village in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district have complained that the public transport operators are overcharging fares on the Hablish-Mir Bazar route.
Locals said that the Tata Magic drivers who are plying on the Hablish-Mir Bazar route are charging extra fares from passengers, including the students, who travel on the route.
“They charge Rs 15 to 20 for just 3.5 kilometers, which is against the fare rate list issued by transport authorities,” Abid Ali, a local alleged.
The locals also complained that the drivers do not abide by the rate list. “As per the rate list, we have to pay Rs 10 for up to four kilometers but the Tata Magic drivers are charging Rs 15 to Rs 20,” said another local. “When we ask for the rate list, they start misbehaving and use rude language.”
The commuters have urged the authorities to ensure proper transport fare rates are followed in the area so that the passengers are not fleeced.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer Kulgam neither received phone calls nor responded to text messages from this reporter. (KNO)
