Kashmir has once witnessed a shocking incident wherein a minor boy, hailing from central Kashmir’s Budgam district was kidnapped by a non-local woman. However, the attempt was prevented as she was arrested by Jammu & Kashmir Police in a swift action, getting appreciation from every nook and corner for the achievement. The lady hails from Rajasthan and attempted to kidnap a minor boy while appearing in the society as a beggar, which sounds an alarm across length and breadth. In the past too, Kashmir has recorded incidents like Thursday. Mehran Lateef is one of the examples, who went missing on 13 May, 2008. In a mysterious incident on the day, a 3-year-old boy living in Habba Kadal area of Srinagar went missing and now, around 15 years after the incident, there is no clue about the guy, if he has been kidnapped or murdered. Such events are putting a huge responsibility on the parents in particular and the society in general to keep close vigil within the locality and ensure that the events like today could be prevented and those involved are brought to book. Moreover, the parents should play their role in ensuring that their beloved will not come out of his/her home without elders, which would help in preventing such incidents. Besides, the police should investigate the matter thoroughly to ascertain whether the involved lady is working as a part of any gang in Kashmir. There is a need to investigate all the angles to ensure that no such happening would occur anywhere across Jammu & Kashmir in the future.
