Coronavirus: JK records 1144 new cases, two deaths

Srinagar, Apr 16: The Covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir continue to show a spurt as 1,144 fresh positive cases were reported on Friday pushing the number of active cases near 10,620 which otherwise were less than 600 around a month before.

Two more deaths were reported in J&K in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 2,048 and active cases continue to increase and the recovery rate decreases with each passing day. 1,144 fresh positive cases reported on Friday pushed the tally of positive cases to 144,021.

Of the exact number of 144,021 cases, 86,4877 are from Kashmir and 57,534 from Jammu division.

Officials said that among 1,144 new cases, 730 belong to Kashmir division while as 414 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 86,487 including 78,701 recoveries and 1,289 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 57,524 including 52,652 recoveries and 759 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 10,620 including 6,497 from Kashmir division and 4,123 from Jammu division.

With 562 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 131,353 which is 91.20 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 407 from Srinagar, 89 from Baramulla, 97 from Budgam, 45 from Pulwama, 11 from Kupwara, 30 from Anantnag, 12 from Bandipora, 05 from Ganderbal, 33 from Kulgam and 01 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 414 from Jammu division include 223 from Jammu, 29 from Udhampur, 33 from Rajouri, 10 from Doda, 32 from Kathua, 23 from Samba, 04 from Kishtwar, 06 from Poonch, 11 from Ramban and 43 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

As per officials figures, 33,851 positive cases including 485 deaths and 29,596 recoveries are from Srinagar, 10,227 including 183 deaths and 9,062 recoveries are from Baramulla, 8,853 including 8,293 recoveries and 123 deaths are from Budgam, 6,245 including 5,916 recoveries and 92 deaths are from Pulwama, 6,114 including 98 deaths and 5,784 recoveries are from Kupwara, 5,528 including 5,153 recoveries and 99 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,943 cases including 4,768 and 63 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,862 including 4,704 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Ganderbal, 3,120 including 2,811 recoveries and 57 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,744 including 2,614 recoveries and 40 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 28,226 including 25,648 recoveries and 396 deaths are from Jammu district, 5,129 including 4,373 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Udhampur, 4,028 including 3,849 recoveries and 56 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,518 including 3,413 recoveries and 64 deaths are from Doda, 3,671 including 3,411 recoveries and 53 deaths are from Kathua, 3,009 including 2,830 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Samba, 2,799 including 2,765 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Kishtwar, 2,623 including 2,524 recoveries and 28 deaths are from Poonch, 2,202 including 2,140 recoveries and 23 deaths are from Ramban and 2,329 including 1,699 recoveries and 16 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 1,650,559 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 69,214 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 1,0620 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 1,441,410 persons have completed surveillance period and 127,267 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 6,683,730 samples are available. Out of 6,683,739 the number of samples tested negative stands at 6,539,709 while as 144,021 have tested positive, among them 10,620 persons are active, 131,353 persons have recovered and 2,048 persons have died.
