Srinagar, Mar 21: Police in Baramulla have arrested three gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.
Acting on specific information about gambling activities in orchards of KP Payeen Pattan, a police party of Police Post Mirgund headed by In-charge PP Mirgund, under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohammad Nawaz, raided the specific spot and arrested three gamblers on the spot, police said in a statement.
They have been identified as Tanvir Hussain Bhat son of Mohammad Qasim Bhat, Mohammad Yaqoob Malla, son of Gh Hussain, and Imran Hussain Dar, son of Gh Mohiuddin, all residents of KP Payeen Pattan.
Officers have also seized stake money of Rs 2600 and playing cards from the gamblers, the statement said, adding that they have been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan and further investigation has been initiated, police said, adding that the persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt with as per the law. (KNO)
