Sopore, May 3: Inhabitants of Yaseen Colony in Sopore town have expressed resentment against the authorities for failing to repair faulty drainage system and removal of encroachment over Irrigation and Flood Control department canal.
As per the locals, a little rain causes water-logging in the said area.
“It is a flood-like situation in our locality as the accumulated water overflowed from faulty drains and encroached canals directly entered into our houses,” said Bashir Ahmed, a local said.
He said that the authorities concerned have failed to repair the faulty drainage system and also they had never desilted canals in their area.
There is no proper drainage system while the concerned department has miserably failed to take any step in this regard, the residents said.
“We have been moving from pillar to post, besides concerned departments were informed time and again but nothing has been done in this regard,” they added.
The locals appealed to administration as well as the concerned department to look into the matter and redress their grievances at the earliest.
Officials at the I&FC were not available for their comment.
