Elections no pre-requisite for J&K’s statehood restoration: CM’s Advisor

Srinagar, May 4: Chief Executive Officer Mission Youth J&K and Secretary of Tribal Affairs, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary on Thursday said that the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration is a “recognition” but young people’s faith in the Mission Youth programme is more “significant”.
Speaking to the media persons on the sidelines of an event here, Dr Choudhary, said, “There was a feedback session with the students regarding the programme which also included their suggestions from them. There is tremendous enthusiasm among the students.”
He said that the Mission Youth programme was aimed at creating constructive engagement for the youth in every sector and was not confined to a particular segment only. “We are not restricted to any particular sector, from education, skill development, entrepreneurship, drug de-addiction, women empowerment we cover a lot of segments,” the CEO of Mission Youth J&K said, adding, “The journey over the past two years have been enriching as more and more people are connecting with us.”
Dr Shahid said they have introduced some new changes, which include financial support for residential components and the addition of optional subjects. He highlighted that they still have to work on the dissemination of information in many areas with regard to the balancing of schemes, with applicants.
“It is just the beginning, and we have to push for more efforts for the enormous talent with us, for which more opportunities have to be made available,” he added.
Dr Choudhary said the Mission Youth currently has more than 15 schemes in different sectors. “Under the PARVAAZ scheme of mission youth, we are imparting coaching to candidates for both IAS and JKAS besides NEET and JEE examinations. We are making some changes and are establishing two coaching institutes one at Jammu University and the other at Kashmir University,” he said.
