Srinagar, May 6: A team of Kashmir Law Circle recently visited the remote area of Fakeer Gojri in the Harwan Dara area of Srinagar to raise legal awareness and promote access to justice.
“The visit was aimed to provide legal education and empowerment to the underserved and forgotten community living in the area that is facing a multitude of challenges including poverty, lack of basic amenities, and little access to legal aid,” the team said.
During the visit, the legal team conducted a series of interactive sessions with the community, which included discussions on basic legal rights, laws related to land disputes, women and child protection, and access to government schemes. The team also guided them on how to access legal services in case of any issues.
The community members expressed their gratitude towards the legal team for visiting their area and providing them with much-needed legal education and empowerment, the team said, adding, “The visit has not only created awareness but also instilled hope in the community that has been living a life of misery and neglect for far too long.”
The organisation in a statement said, “It is heartening to see the enthusiasm and willingness of the community to learn about their legal rights. We believe that access to legal education and aid is crucial to empower marginalised and neglected communities like the one in Fakeer Gojri. We hope that our visit has made a positive impact and encouraged the community to take charge of their legal rights.”
“This visit to Fakeer Gojri highlights the importance of legal education and access to justice for marginalized communities. It is imperative that we continue to promote legal awareness campaigns and provide legal aid to those in need, especially in areas where the marginalized communities face a higher risk of exploitation and neglect,” the statement added.
