Shopian, May 8: Residents of several areas in south Kashmir demanded completion of Bijbehara-Shopian road which was approved under CRF seven years ago.
The Union ministry of Road Transport and Highways sanctioned an amount of Rs 48.93 crore for the upgradation and widening of the road connecting Shopian with Bijbehara in February 2016.
Besides connecting the historical Mughal road with Bijbehara town, the road is also vital to hundreds of villages that connect them to different parts of South Kashmir.
People in Shopian said that most of the work on the road has been already completed and the remaining work must be started at the earliest.
About 1 km in Dachoo lies in dilapidated condition besides that road is in bad condition in Hassanpora area of Bijbehara, they said.
An official said that there was some issue between PHE and PDD and it was resolved.
But due to shortage of funds work was suspended later, he added.
