Keep Kashmir connected

While the works under smart city to beautify Srinagar is in full swing, there are some demands that continue to remain unheard as the government has not taken any decision to bring any respite to the people in the congested areas of Srinagar city. Most of the roads in City areas are congested and are giving tough times to the commuters every then and now, but unfortunately no visible step has been taken by the authorities in this regard to ensure hassle-free movement to the commuters. There are some places where only one vehicle can pass at one time and thus witness frequent traffic congestion. The development and expansion of such roads should be taken up on priority during the ongoing works so that the sufferings of commuters will come to an immediate end. One fails to understand why the delay is occurring in the initiative to expand the space on the City roads as the plan was there for years, but nothing has been done so far in this regard, thereby pushing the commuters to the wall. At a time when the renovation of roads is already taking place, the government departments should sit on a table to come up with a final and favourable solution in this regard so that the roads are widened and the people would get a good space to commute and the frequent traffic congestion is put to an end. The decision in this regard is imperative as without expanding the roads, the sufferings of the people, especially the commuters, will continue unabated.
