All eyes on G-20 for tourism boom

As the preparations are in full swing, the upcoming G-20 event in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir is set to be held in the next week in which the delegates from different countries are expected to participate in the meeting between May 22-24. However, all eyes are on the 3rd Tourism Working Group meeting as the tourism players, traders, politicians are keeping a close watch on it with an expectation of revocation of travel advisory in many foreign countries to Jammu & Kashmir that has continued since the eruption of militancy here. In J&K, the situation has changed to a large extent as the peaceful atmosphere could be witnessed everywhere as the stone pelting, strike calls and other related things have come to an end while the militancy as per the authorities is also in its last leg. At this juncture, the tourists from across the country are visiting Jammu & Kashmir in large numbers, breaking the previous records last year while the government is once again expecting to break previous year’s record, pinning a hope for further increase in the footfall of tourists. Therefore, with the expectation of revocation of travel ban in several foreign countries, the tourism sector would witness a further boom as the foreign tourists would start visiting here. The removal of the travel advisory in the foreign countries will be the biggest achievement for the incumbent regime and thus the steps in the right direction are needed and imperative for achieving the goal.
