Srinagar, Jun 16: If the current pace of vaccination continues in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, the administration is all set to miss another deadline to vaccinate all above 45-years of age till June end, a timeframe set by the LG Manoj Sinha.
As per the data available, three districts in J&K which includes Jammu, Shopian and Ganderbal have already completed 100 percent mark, however, there are some districts which are lagging very behind in the process and even Kupwara district is yet to cross 50 percent mark
Pertinently, LG Sinah earlier on May 16 had set a 10 days timeframe to vaccinate all above 45 years of age. However, this deadline was missed by a long margin and later June end was set as another deadline.
Officials within the health department said that in the first 20 days since the deadline was set just 10 percent people above 45 years have been covered and in the next 14 days authorities have to cover around 23 percent more population.
They said that if the vaccination process will go with same pace, the administration will definitely miss another deadline.
Figures available reveal that Srinagar and Kupwara districts have shown poor performance as just 52 percent people above 45 years of age have been vaccinated in the summer capital so far and just 47 percent have been vaccinated in the hilly Kupwara district in 45 age category.
In aggregate, 77.12 percent people above 45 years of age have been vaccinated in Jammu and Kashmir which means administration will have to vaccinate 22.88 percent of the population above 45 in next 14 days to meet the deadline.
Top health officials said that the vaccination process is going on in full pace and they are hopeful that they will achieve the target before the deadline.
J&K Immunisation Officer Dr Shahid said that Srinagar and Kupwara districts are racing up and have done very well in last few days.
