Jammu to see high-profile visits in mid-June

Jammu, Jun 20: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will be on his maiden visit to Jammu and Kashmir on June 22, followed by two more high-profile visits, including that of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on June 23 and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on June 26.
Officials said that the visit of the Vice President holds immense significance for the region as it marks his inaugural visit to the Union Territory after assuming the top office. As per officials, the Vice President scheduled to attend the Special Convocation of the University of Jammu.
Confirming the details of the visit, the Vice President’s Secretariat said the Vice President’s visit, scheduled for June 22, 2023, will primarily revolve around attending the Special Convocation of the University of Jammu, and the arrangements for the same have already been put in place. During the course of the event, apart from addressing the gathering, the Vice President will also hand over gold medals to the top 10 students.
As part of his itinerary, after the Special Convocation, the Vice President will proceed to the town of Katra. From there, he will undertake a visit to the revered holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi to seek blessings. Additionally, during the day-long visit, the Vice President will also visit the Jammu and Kashmir Raj Bhawan, the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor.
Moreover, Union Home Minister Shah is scheduled to address a public rally in Jammu to mark the “martyrdom day” of BJP ideologue Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
He will also hold a review of security arrangements for the annual Amarnath Yatra, which will commence on July 1. Security forces, especially the J&K Police, are focusing on securing all routes for Amarnath pilgrims. Rajnath will address a “Security Conclave” at Jammu on June 26.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir, led by party General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul and J&K BJP Seh-Prabhari, Ashish Sood discussed the preparations for the upcoming public rally of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath’s visits
Ashok Koul, while addressing the meeting, stressed upon the party leaders to go for minute planning to manage every aspect of the rally.
He said that the public rally would be a massive one owing to the eagerness of the general public and party workers to listen to their tall leader. He said that in view of anticipation of heavy rush of participants in the rally, every care has to be taken to make sure that no harassment is done to the general public or to the locals during the rally. He specifically focused on the proper parking of the vehicles to ease the commuting and also provision of drinking water in view of the harsh summer days.
