ATM theft case: Police arrest three Bangladesh residents

Srinagar, Jun 27: In a major breakthrough, Jammu and Kashmir Police Pulwama Tuesday claimed to have solved the ATM theft case by arresting a gang of notorious thieves, who are from Bangladesh.
A police spokesman, in a statement said that on April 08, 2023, unknown burglars stole an ATM machine installed near to Government Degree College Pulwama.
In this regard, a case under FIR number 78/2023 under section 380, 457 IPC was registered at PS Pulwama.
Taking into account the gravity of crime, a SIT, headed by Additional SP Pulwama, was constituted to ensure the expeditious investigation of the case, police said.
“The whole investigation is being closely monitored and supervised by SSP Pulwama. During the course of investigation, the Police team had analysed digital data evidences besides meticulous investigation of circumstantial evidences—persistent and focused examination of suspects resulted in identifying a group of international thieves from Bangladesh who had committed such type of crime in the past also,” police said.
Police have also used the service of a private detective to unearth the gang. Due to collective effort by the team and particularly distinguished efforts put by Insp Azim SHO Pulwama the sensational burglary racket get identified & apprehended. The role of other supporting Police members under supervision of Addl SP & DySP Hqrs Pulwama also remained remarkable, police said.
Three accused including kingpin have been arrested in the case, who include Suman Mal, son of Jainal of Rajapur Police station Raainda Bangladesh, Farooq Ahmad Ali, son of Ahmad Ali of Razwair Police station Rainda, Bangladesh and Mohd Ibrahim, son of Mohd Muslim of Bangla Bazar Police station Sharun Khola Bangladesh.
The suspects during strenuous questioning, confessed the commission of crime, subsequent to their disclosure, the stolen ATM machine was recovered from an orchard dumped in a pit at Dogam Kakapora, police said.
“The gang of burglars has revealed that they had committed such ATM theft at other places too over the past years. This gang of thieves from Bangladesh started operating in South Kashmir from the beginning of this year and also disclosed ATM theft in Pampore. The mystery around ATM theft case by a gang of international thieves has been worked out professionally by Pulwama Police. The investigation is still continuing to arrest other accomplices,” police said.
Police added that this effort of Pulwama police is being hailed by every section of the society and it has reaffirmed the belief among masses that Police is saviour of life and property of public.
