Kashmir’s new journey: From separatism, terrorism to peace, participation, progress

In nearly two months, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have played a key role by exposing and busting four prostitution rackets in Kashmir, which is known as the land of sufi saints. Two sex rackets have so far been busted in north Kashmir while two have been busted in Srinagar outskirts, which points towards the worrisome situation in the Valley. The latest sex racket was busted in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district Wednesday in which 6 persons including two females have been arrested. Such happenings are only raising questions about where the society is heading as amid the increase in drug menace in Jammu and Kashmir, such events and episodes can only ruin the lives of people and their families by one way or the other. The society needs to take proper precautions at this juncture and need to follow the guidelines issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in order to put an end to such events. The first and foremost thing, which the society needs to do is to keep close vigil on the tenants in their respective areas and those who are being given rooms, shops and offices on rent are being properly verified so that such issues cannot take place in their properties. Similarly, there is a need to install CCTV cameras in the rented accommodations so that the events taking place in and around the building can be properly examined and monitored so that the prostitution rackets and criminal issues are put an end.
