Red Zones in Srinagar continue to record COVID positive cases

Srinagar, Jun 22: The localities declared as red zones in Srinagar continued to record a large number of Covid cases as according to the official figure over 1300 active cases out of total over 1500 have been detected from the containment zones within the district till June 19, 2021.
An official figure revealed that there were 1575 positive cases in the district till June 19 (Saturday).
Of total 1575 cases, 1384 have been detected from the localities declared as the red zones by the district administration Srinagar.
The figure revealed that only 191 active positive cases till Saturday were reported from outside containment zones, which is just 12.1 per cent of the total active positive cases.
It added that a total of 153 localities within the district have been declared as red zones.
A weekly Covid document prepared by the health officials of the district, reads that 6,41,704 people have been tested since the outbreak of the disease (Covid-19) in J&K, adding that 5,27,196 underwent Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) while 1,14,508 were tested through RT-PCR.
It added that so far 69,012 people have been tested positive across the district which include security personnel as well as the travelers.
The document further reveals that 5,78,241 contacts were also traced since the outbreak of the virus and a total of 66,621 people who were tested positive till June 19 have recovered.
It added that the recovery rate in Srinagar is 96.5 per cent while 816 people have also died due to the virus till last Saturday in the district, adding that the fatality rate in the district is 1.1 per cent.
Notably, the document reads the district as per the 2011 census has a total population of 12,36,829 while the projected population in 2020 is 15,08,931.
