Construction work on NH 144-A hampers smooth traffic flow

Rajouri, Aug 3: The ongoing construction work on National Highway 144 A, particularly between Rajouri and Manjakote, has become a cause of major concern. The condition of the road is deplorable, making it extremely difficult for commuters to travel. The situation is further exacerbated by the actions of the contractors, who halt the traffic for prolonged periods, often causing significant inconvenience to the public.
“The roadblocks imposed by the contractors not only disrupt the flow of vehicles but also pose a serious threat to emergency services. Even ambulances are not spared from the agony of being stuck in traffic for hours. This has resulted in critical delays in reaching hospitals, potentially compromising the timely medical assistance that patients require, a commuter said.
‘The mud accumulation at specific sections also acts as major hindrance, rendering the passage of vehicles extremely difficult. The lack of timely clean-up is causing traffic congestion and adding to the frustration of motorists,” he said.
“The district administration should take measures to oversee the progress of construction work and ensure that the contractors fulfill their responsibilities diligently without causing inconvenience to the commuters. Stringent regulations should be put in place to prevent unnecessary halting of traffic, especially during peak hours,” he added.
