Srinagar, Aug 14: Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta on Monday said that Jammu & Kashmir has ranked first in Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) and also in the Model Village Category.
Addressing a gathering on the sidelines of the inaugural function here at Lal Chowk, the Chief Secretary said that the time has gone when markets used to shut before evening as J&K has entered into a new era where the shopkeepers can keep their shops open till late evening hours.
“The demands raised by the traders about the transport facility in the evening will be resolved shortly,” he said, adding that Srinagar is one of the beautiful places and the markets here shouldn’t close before evening.
“The markets can open till late evening hours and all the necessary measures in this regard will be taken,” he said, adding that Srinagar has been beautified, saying that it is a beginning and in the future, it will be beautified further.
“Compared to 2019, Srinagar has everything now including flyovers, stadiums, roads, and Boulevard. Srinagar has emerged after G20. The future will be bright here,” he said.
He added that the people should also work in tandem with the government to make Srinagar one among the best in the world.
Dr Mehta further added that Jammu & Kashmir topped in multiple things, adding that in Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, it has ranked first and also topped in Model Village Category. “The J&K is ranked first in many things, which indicates Naya Kashmir,” he said.
“We will take Srinagar to the position, which nobody had ever thought about,” he said.
