Rajouri, Aug 17: The population of Block Manjakote in District Rajouri is estimated to be approximately 50-60 thousand. Unfortunately, this densely populated area lacks a crucial emergency service – a fire service station.
“The absence of a local fire service station poses a significant threat to the safety and well-being of the residents. Numerous instances have occurred where residents in dire need of assistance had to rely on the distant Rajouri fire service station, resulting in delayed response at times and devastating consequences, locals of the areas said.
“Whenever fire incident happens we have to rely on the fire tenders from Rajouri. By the time the fire tenders arrive at the location, valuable assets and properties are often reduced to ashes. This situation not only leads to massive financial losses but also poses grave risk to human lives, as many have lost their lives in these devastating incidents,” they said.
“Many individuals in the Manjakote area rely on livestock and agriculture as their primary means of income. Tragically, in numerous fire accidents, people have lost their animals, which serve as their livelihood. The absence of a local fire brigade only exacerbates the impact of these devastating incidents. It is heart-wrenching to witness families lose their source of income and face severe financial hardships in the fire incidents” they said.
The residents have requested the district administration to prioritize the establishment of a dedicated fire service station in Block Manjakote.
“Having a locally available fire service station would significantly reduce response times, allowing firefighters to reach the affected area promptly. This rapid response is crucial in minimizing the damage caused by fires and increasing the chances of saving lives, property, and livestock,” they said.
