Srinagar, Sep 4: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has quashed the detention of a South Kashmir youth under the controversial Public Safety Act (PSA).
Senior Advocate Bashir Ahmed Tak representing the incarcerated youth said that the detention of Sakib Akbar Waza of Kulbagh Gulshanpora Tral village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district was quashed by the court nearly over two years after he was arrested on charges of supporting militancy and simultaneously booked under the PSA.
The accused was put behind the bars without letting him know about the charges. He is currently lodged at Kot Balwal Jail Jammu.
The court of Justice Sanjay Dhar after hearing the arguments of Advocate Bashir Ahmed Tak directed authorities to release him from Jail. [KNT]
