Keep Kashmir connected

Indeed, there is no iota of doubt that the administration has been making relentless efforts to ensure better and accessible healthcare to all in Jammu & Kashmir, besides ensuring free treatment of patients under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat SEHAT Scheme. However, what halts the pace of the better healthcare facilities is the continuous private practice of doctors and also prescribing of the branded medicines by the doctors at the government run hospitals, which is pushing the patients from poor sections of the society to the wall. One cannot imagine a favourable change for the poor people until and unless the major issues being faced by them are put to an end. It is imperative to make a visible change in the government run hospitals as the efforts being made by the administration are not bearing fruit amid such activities. The long queues outside the chambers of doctors in the hospitals clearly depict the miserable situation for the poor patients as they have to spend most of the time in the queue to visit the doctor for treatment. But, they only get disappointed as the doctors are prescribing branded medicines instead of giving preference to the government’s decision to prescribe generic medicines only. The top health officials need to take a strict decision at this juncture to ensure that the efforts being made by the government are not spoiled at any cost and the poor people who visit the hospitals with expectations are not pushed to the wall.
